Episode #25
Guest: Dr. Cuthbert Soup
Betsy Bird Review: Doodlebug by Karen Romano Young

My guest today is a font of unnecessary yet fascinating information. He is Dr. Cuthbert Soup, Advisor to the ill advised, and though I’m unsure of his exact title, I’m almost positive it’s Director, President, and World Dominator of the National Center for Unsolicited Advice, where he is at the center of the dispensation of loads of advice that is completely not asked for, hence the name of his workplace.

We cover

  • Dr. Soup’s relation to the relatively odor-free children in A Whole ‘Nother Story
  • Whether or not Doris the ladybug ever recovered from her PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress from Doorknobs
  • a  disagree with some advice in your tome. On page 98 the Cheeseman family come across a troupe of circus performers, among which is a sword swallower named Three-Eyed Jake. He says, “Let me tell you something, Gerard. Swallow a sword and it’ll change your whole outlook on life. Because once you do, nothing else seems that difficult.”

I had to disagree. I followed that advice, swallowed a sword, and now there is one thing that indeed seems much more difficult. Listen and find out what, exactly, is now much more difficult for me.
