Remember in the movie Jerry Maguire, the whole, “Help me help you” scene? (I love that movie! Remember the kid? SO cute.)
Anyway, I just got back from the SCBWI (Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators) conference in LA and asked people a question just like that.
Because I've got a bunch of things I've been dreaming up to support you. To help you in your career as a writer.
Over the next few weeks I may ask for your objective input because why bother creating new exciting ventures if it's not going to help you? So I'd be really appreciative to get your ideas and opinions … and it would help me help you!
So here is the first thing I'm thinking about:
Tons of people ask me if they could read my podcast in transcript format. Lots of people aren't auditory learners and we go through a ton of info on Brain Burps About Books.
I've been doing a cost v. time analysis, and that got me going on the idea of a membership called Club Burp-a-Palooza (!) and how it could benefit my listeners. That, in turn, got me thinking of giving even more value than just the transcripts.
What do you think if I added…
• a monthly live Q&A?
• book giveaways?
• first crack at any deals or sales?
• pre-sale days or extra time?
But I'm not going to start this without your feedback. Are you willing to help me? (Um, help you?!)
Thank you SO MUCH for your help. (I'll get back to you and let you know the results and whether I'm going to do this thang.)
