One of My Favorite Things About Writing

…is critiquing a story with amazing potential. And the bonus is when the writer really hears and then LISTENS and makes the changes that makes it go from a story with potential to a publishable manuscript.

Receiving a crit isn’t always easy but if you really want to improve your story the most productive thing you can do is to open your mind to it, particularly if the person who is talking to you about your mss is knowledgable in the genre.

Seems obvious but like I said, it’s hard taking suggestions on a story that’s been in your head for eons.

I have just had this experience both on the giving and receiving end and it was so rewarding. Both times!

PS I wrote the original draft of this entry on my iPhone, making LOTS of nonsensical mistakes. My apologies!
