Take Your Child to the Library Day!

I was asked to promote this, and even if i hadn’t been asked, I would. Libraries need our help to survive. Do you have any idea how many writers we have now, whose books we adore, who grew up in libraries? Not literally. They didn’t have a bedroom and toys and stuff in the library. Though I do like writing “literally” when referring to libraries and writers. But I digress.
Here is what I found out:
Nadine Lipman of the Waterford (Conn.) Public Library, and Caitlin Augusta of the Stratford (CT) Library Association have started a grassroots initiative called “Take Your Child to the Library Day.” The annual event will be on the first Saturday in February (February 4, 2012). The idea sprang from the recent “Take Your Child to a Bookstore Day,” held Saturday, December 3. They’ve set up a blog, and a public Facebook page here
Everyone is invited to participate, including libraries outside of Connecticut. Wouldn’t it be cool if it became an annual event? Maybe get on the Today Show? Woohoo! Take your child to the library…and you don’t even have to wait till Feb 4!
