You Can't Get it ALL Done

You Can't Get it ALL Done

I have guilt. I haven’t gotten everything I wanted to get done in the past weeks. But have I done everything I needed to do? Mostly. But I do feel like I’ve let my readers down a bit while my kids were away for 2 weeks, and I’ve been trying to get it all done. What, you may ask, have I been trying to do?
In no particular order:

  • the slideshow for my Meet the Editor webinar with Deborah Halverson, which is tomorrow night (yay – over 50 registrants!)
  • my presentation for my session at SCBWI LA the weekend of August 5th
  • finish writing my eBook, How to Promote Your Children’s Book: Tips, Tricks, and Secrets to Create a Bestseller which I did, got to the editor and the copyeditor and is now with the designer and will available I hope August 1! Stay tuned to see! Here is a sneak peek at the cover:

How to Promote Your Children's Book

  • design the cover and create postcards for SCBWI and have them printed and shipped to me IN TIME to take with me to LA
  • redesign all the art for my podcast app since apparently Apple is up to something and I was notified I had TWO WHOLE WEEKS to do it!
  • keep up with my social media efforts, which I’ve been failing at miserably (see the sporadic postings here? Lack of tweeting?)
  • create a movie for Susan Campbell Bartoletti and Penn State called How to Make a Smart Dummy
  • interview and edit my podcast episodes
  • edit the ALA movies I did with Kristin Clark Venuti and the very patient Jim Averbeck
  • the interview with my husband and co-creator, Jerry for Cynthia Leitich Smith (a very important interview, I might add, so I feel more pressure to make it FAB)
  • my newsletter

The last three things have been waiting for my attention. Even my podcast for my app subscribers will not be available when they usually get it. But you know what? It’s okay. Not everything can get done! Prioritize and get what you need to get done. The rest will wait.

Maybe you can’t ever get it ALL done, but tonight’s webinar was wonderful – I’m glad you took the time to meet with us all! So sad I won’t be able to make it to SCBWI in LA this year 🙁 but I am looking forward to your next webinar 🙂
