Today’s interview guest is Jerry Craft, who creates comic book characters all about African American culture in his series Mama’s Boyz. When my husband Jerry and Jerry Craft met each other, it was bromance at first sight. I began teasing them both, and Craft was an excellent target, because he doesn’t take any guff from me, as evidenced in the photo below. Check out who he signed it to…

Great podcast and have signed up for the newsletter.
Must remember to leave a voicemail if I have another question. 🙂 Thanks. I actually remembered that an unknown tweep sent me a message last week (not a DM) on twitter, telling me I had used the wrong preposition with enamored in my twitter bio. I replied with thanks and she apologized. Actually I appreciated the question, though did feel it could have been couched in a slightly more friendly way! 🙂
Julie, Marilyn Singer+unusual animals and their habitats sounds a complete winner for me. Cheers.
Loved the discussion on African American characters (and Puerto Rican etc).

Thanks for making me your “burp buddie!” I had a great time!

Really enjoyed this interview…thanks Jerry and katie for sharing. Multicultural issues need to be addressed in our writing in the best and clearest and most valid way! This discussion helped firm up my perspectives about the concerns. Great interview.

Fun podcast. It is so sad that racism is still in play in this day and age and that a lot of times it’s the parents passing it to their kids 🙁
As for names for your fan group…For some reason the B3’s (B_rain B_urps about B_ooks) sounded fun or spelled out Bee Threes…mmmm…maybe Brainy Bookies…errr that’s too long. This is a hard one, but those are a couple non-gaseous expelling from mouth name ideas 😛 OR maybe using your name…Katie + fans=”The Kats” Or if you like the gas producing names more…than perhaps burpees (male) and burpettes (females). Sorry about the English skills here (or lack there of) was writing as I was thinking.

Oh…thanks Zach for the reminder on the ‘group’ name…
Not so sure.
I am thinking that the cow on your logo doesn’t get much attention.
So…maybe we could be called the ‘Moowriters’… or ‘KatieCuds’ (I find myself chewing and re-chewing your podcasts).
