My husband grew up on the shoreline in Ct., and recently we were lucky to be invited by some friends to a farm dinner. These dinners take place every two weeks during the summer, presented by a fabulous restaurant called The River Tavern, in Chester, Ct. They started this idea to promote local farms and the whole eat local/eat fresh concept. The menu was incredible – here is a sample: Grilled bruschetta with slow, roasted tomato tapenade & arugula pesto, White Clam pizza, Warm spinach & chevre dip, Fresh herb frittata, Zucchini, mozzarella, olive & tomato salad, Seafood salad, Grilled fish (tuna, striper), Wood roasted porchetta. Grilled vegetables with romesco,Gnocchi with arugula pesto & grated sheeps milk cheese, Green Salad with hard-boiled local eggs & herbs,Local Berry Crostada. That’s ONE dinner! To read a professional review click here – you get a real sense of the event. I think every community should have these!
