This month on Good Morning, CT, I talked about how when people read books they get to live vicariously though the characters and live lives they otherwise wouldn’t get to experience. Lots of times, kids learn about people who are nothing like them, or absorb the values of the characters. “Living” these new lives can start conversations – just look at Amy Chua’s book about Chinese parenting –  tiger mom! She’s blazing through the media and the internet! Books are the perfect way to start a conversation between the person reading and the child, too.
