OMG this was SO much fun. I was there with LISA McMANN (Wake),
LINDA GERBER (Death by Bikini), MELISSA WALKER (Violet in Private),CLAIRE MYSKO(You’re Amazing!: A No-Pressure Guide to Being Your Best Self ) andJENNY DAVIDSON (The Explosionist). Below I’ve included the blurb from Books of Wonder’s site. Chloe Walsh couldn’t make it at the last minute, and I’m sorry I couldn’t meet her.
These women were all fab-u, each in her own way. We all got a turn to present something about our book, whether it was a description or a reading. Since Claire Mysko’s book is a girl power/empowerment book, she did a fun activity in order to make the audience more at ease to do this themselves, where she asked each of us to tell everyone one amazing thing about
ourselves. The idea being that it’s okay to think we’re great and that doesn’t make us conceited. Linda Gerber said she was shy, so talking to a crowd (–and we definitely had one of those! it was SRO!) was her amazing quality. I thought that was very brave. Personally, I’m a big hamball, so I have a blast at these things and am always sorry when they end.
I met very hip* people like this guys, from The N. Apparently I’m the last to know about this cool network for teens.
*though, my kids tell me if I use the word “hip” I’m automatically NOT hip. Go figure.
After we had a Q&A which was fun, and then we signed. This pile was the first of about four that the wonderful BoW staff brought over. I brought a Plate of Appeasement (see earlier blog post about my launch party – for pix too) and left it there for the staff. It wasn’t that I was being so generous. I just didn’t want to schlep that thing back on the train with me again! (and btw, I’m sure if you call the store, they can send you a signed copy of any of our books – they had us signing tons of stock!)
