Free Critique Workshop

Twice a month I host a live critique workshop for the members of a group I started called The Writers’ Block. It’s the most popular benefit of being a member. I decided to host another one for nonmembers so other writers can see what it’s like.

Free Critique WorkshopSo how does this workshop work?

1 – If you haven’t signed up, you must do that HERE otherwise we won’t be able to contact you if you win.

2 – Enter the raffle to win a critique by clicking HERE by Feb 5. Add it to your calendar so you don’t forget to submit on time!

Winners will receive an email (make sure to put

in your contacts so it doesn’t go in your spam or promotion folders). You’ll receive instructions on how and where to send your submission, too.

The workshop will be on February 8th at 8pm ET. Can’t attend live? No problem! There will be a replay.

You will learn lots of writing how-tos by attending this live online workshop whether you win one of the slots to have your writing critiqued or you’re an observer,

Five winners will get a critique. You may only enter the raffle once.Your manuscript must follow these guidelines:

  • Your submission can be a full or partial manuscript up to 1,000 words in any genre for an audience anywhere from 0-18 years old.
  • Double space your manuscript.
  • Margins should be one inch all around.
  • Use Times New Roman or Courier, 12-point font.
  • Include your first and last name in the upper left corner of every page.
  • Number all pages.
  • Genre, audience age range, and word count only goes on first page. Also, indicate if it’s full or partial manuscript.
  • For example: Picture Book, 4-6 years old, 450 words, Full Manuscript
  • To be sure what genre your story fits best, check out the Genre Guide in Teachable.
  • Send as a Word doc attachment named: YourFirstName_YourLastName_Title_of_Manuscript
  • Please only submit the 1,000 words of your manuscript you’d like critiqued. No illustrations, synopsis, curriculum guides, or anything else.

Good luck!

Lastly, thank you for trusting me to give you the best critique my many (many, many, more than I care to say) years of experience. I know how much courage it takes to put your hard work into someone else’s hands, and I promise I will give all the winners of the drawing a productive, actionable, and kind critique.
