I’m on a bit of a stat roll with all these comments and new listeners, thanks to the buzz created by Julie Hedlund over at 12 x 12 in 2012 so I thought I’d take advantage by asking you what kinds of subjects you would like covered on the podcast. Speak up! This is your chance to get questions answered, topics covered, tips proffered. Leave your suggestions in the comments here.
Now the writing part of that headline. I vowed (not resolved. I made no resolutions. But I did vow) to turn everything off each morning when I got to my studio, which is above my garage, and just write. A few mornings I found myself tweeting too long over coffee, or working out too long or — fill in the procrastination of your choice.
But once I got there, I really did turn everything off and guess what? I got hyper focused (to the detriment of some other stuff that was due…sorry New England SCBWI team who needed my program description!) and finished a very hard draft of my weird manuscript. So I encourage you to turn off and tune in…to your writing!

Now taking your advice and turning it all off. I’ve got my 12x draft to work on.

I too need to learn to switch off!

So in addition to interviews with authors and editors I’d love to hear some interviews with illustrators – how they got started, becoming published, working on getting published, tips, words of wisdom etc…Thanks, these podcasts are fabulous. I’m currently downloading a batch to my iphone.

(She also is the person behind The Children’s Book Hub, which is a great resource, learning, and networking place online.)

How to focus on sites etc. that will help us with our writing and with getting published and not just eat away our day. We need to support other writers and network—but we MUST write—so is there someone who has found this magic formula?
And, Katie, since I’m new to your podcasts, if this subject has already been covered, then I would love to know the episode number. Thanks for the opportunity for us to have input.
