Writing for Children

My first podcast was all about the craft and business of publishing.

Brain Burps About Books was the first podcast I hosted, about the craft and business of publishing.

On the Brain Burps About Books podcast you can hear interviews with publishing experts about creating, promoting, and writing books. If you’re an aspiring writer who wants the inside scoop, listen to booksellers, editors, authors, and other experts in the field.

My second podcast is a much shorter form, Writing for Children.

    Dear Katie,
I read about your book, How To Promote Your Children’s Book: Tips, Tricks, and Secrets to Create a Bestseller, which sounds wonderful.
It seems to be nowhere for me to purchase it. Can you assist, please?
    Thank you.

    Hi Katie,

I am writing a series of children’s books and would love to talk with you about the process, the progress, and the excitement on your podcast! I’ve created a rhyming children’s series aimed at welcoming new little ones into the fantasy genre. Each book is about the adventures of a different fantastic creature, such as Freddy the Frost Giant and Donnie the Dragon. My books fall into a category between rap and rhyme, graphic novel and picture book, as well as early leveled readers to middle-grade fans. We are working with acclaimed artist Dave Pryor on our character design and couldn’t be happier about the partnership.

While things are shaping up nicely, we have gone through finding and hiring artists, doing in depth research on story structure and character development, working with (and finding) editors, starting up peer writing reviews, storyboarding each project, working on a brand new website, and finally setting up a kickstarter. It has been a journey, but one we would love to discuss with you.

Let me know if you are interested in talking more so we can send you a writing sample to enjoy!

    Cheers,
    Jon Allmen
