It’s time to start your week off again with your dose of my Video Writing Prompts! One reason I started this series was to illustrate another way writers can use video – as well as to help writers. Okay, and I admit it, to have a bit of fun myself! I was playing around with something I always had wanted to do, called green screening. Ever see the movie Groundhog Day? Of course you have. Remember the scene when Bill Murray is doing the weather in front of the big green wall but you see that the weather map is showing up on TV for the viewers? That’s green screening.
Using a green screen is actually really easy, but I thought it would be hard, so I put it off. I have to thank one of my Video Idiot Boot Camp students for goosing me to get going on it! Thanks, Tim McCanna! Tim is a perfect example of the student surpassing the teacher – I’m proud!
Anyway, here is a writing prompt for you where I used a green screen. To learn how I did it, go here.
A writing prompt is an exercise to get your writing muscle warmed up. Questions to ask yourself to expand this one might be:
- if you’re in the clouds, are you dreaming?
- are you able to fly?
- do you live in the future when people were able to fly?
- do you live in the past when people were able to fly?
- what is a thing-a-ma-joggy?
- why do I say “Hint: you do not!” (Who am *I* to tell YOU that? It’s YOUR writing prompt!)
