Episode # 9
Subject: Nancy Werlin’s Extraordinary and Impossibly Great Books
Guests: Nancy Werlin
Email feedback: Liz Szabla and Elizabeth O. Dulemba
I kid you not. She does. Nancy Werlin tells how much she makes. Listen and you’ll see!
Nancy Werlin is the brilliant and hugely popular author of eight young adult books. If you look at them all stacked up from oldest to latest, you’ll see how Nancy has changed focus as an author, going from Edgar award winning mysteries, to National Book Award finalist family drama to romantic mysteries, though I hate to call Impossible and Extraordinary “romances”. Romances are the Rodney Dangerfields of the book world. They don’t get no respect!
Nancy shares how much she makes as a New York Times bestselling author – how extraordinary is that?!
Listen in as I talk to Nancy about her Extraordinary new novel, the arc of her subjects, and how she crafts her novels.
And don’t forget, if you’re in the NY metro area and can come to the annual Celebrate Children’s Book Day, it’s Sunday, Sept 19 at Sunnyside, Washington Irving’s historical home. This big list of famous authors and illustrators will be there and I’m going to do live interviews so if you have questions for any of the authors who are going to be there, call my toll free bookline: 888-522-1929 and I will ask your questions (assuming I can find them not surrounded by hoards of fans)! Great podcast. Enjoyed it!

AWESOME podcast! Who knew? Nancy, bravo for talking about the big taboo subject of PAY – personally, I think authors should keep a heck of a lot more than 10%, it seems almost insultingly small for all the blood, sweat and tears you put into your books. Thanks Katie for the interview!
Katie Davis
